The Eco-Eye Elite is a British manufactured and designed wireless real time electricity monitor that will keep an eye on the total amount of electricity being consumed by your home. This is then displayed in a user friendly way, showing either the kilowatts used or the amount of money it is currently costing you. The Eco-Eye Elite also calculates your greenhouse gas emissions allowing you to improve i.e. reduce, your carbon footprint and become a more responsible electricity user and allows you to view both current and historical usage.
The Eco-Eye Elite has many functions that make it highly competitive in the field of real-time electricity monitoring. It is very simple to use and comes configured from the factory with UK settings. Savings made using the Eco-Eye Elite are based on education, once you can see which appliances are using the energy and just how much they use, it is much easier to remember to turn them off when they are not needed. The Eco-Eye Elite will display energy usage in Kilowatts or, by programming in your electricity tariff, you can see the monetary cost per hour, day, month and year. This will clearly let you see how much electricity an appliance uses and how expensive it really is to operate. Because the Elite also stores historical information, you can scroll backwards and forwards through your past consumption to find out how big a saving you have made by becoming more aware of your usage and greener in the process.
One of the unique features of the Eco-Eye Elite is that you can select which channel the transmitter and receiver operate on from a selection of thirty. This will avoid interference with similar units that your neighbours may have.
As with most electricity monitors, a sensor is clipped around the live feed from your electricity supply (usually at the meter - no electrician required) and plugged into a transmitter. This signal is then received by the Eco-Eye Elite display unit, which can be free-standing or wall-mounted. You can even carry it around with you. The signal can be picked up about 100m away in free space or about 30m through walls. The main Eco-Eye Elite display unit is battery powered and batteries will last up to six months, although there is an optional AC power adaptor which can be used instead. There is a low battery warning symbol that will display when the batteries need changing and another symbol that displays when it has a link with the transmitter.
